• Zelenskyy expressed his appreciation for GOP members visiting him in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his appreciation of the visit from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and other GOP members amid their war with Russia, calling it "a strong signal of bipartisan support" from the US. 

"Thank you for your leadership in helping us in our struggle not only for our country but also for democratic values and freedoms," Zelenskyy said in an Instagram post, CNN reported. "We really appreciate it."

The Ukrainian president posted a video on Instagram Saturday, showing him shaking hands with  McConnell and other GOP Senators, including John Cornyn, John Barrasso, and Susan Collins.

Prior to this visit, Democrats have largely been reported visiting Ukraine or Zelenskyy in Kyiv. Jill Biden, in a rare trip entered Ukraine last weekend and held a Mother's Day meeting with Zelenskyy's wife, Olena Zelenska. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also made a surprise visit to Zelenskyy in Kyiv in early May. 

Pelosi told Zelenskyy America's "commitment is to be there for you until the fight is done."
